Last Week’s Shoot – Bread!

Slice of Freshly Baked Warm Wholemeal Bread with Butter

Following my previous food shoot which was quite fruitful (no pun intended) and, more importantly, following a large grocery delivery I decided to set up camp in the kitchen again for a morning last week and make a few more images.

Having exhausted the new supply of ingredients I turned my attention to processes, starting with weighing some wholemeal bread flour.

So with 450g of flour weighed out it seemed to make sense to get the salt, yeast and water and actually make a loaf!

I don’t like kneading much, so I just whizzed up the dough with some dough hooks.

Pretty soon it was ready to prove so it was just a case of adding to a loaf tin (not pictured, as mine is a bit old and not very photogenic) and waiting for it to rise .

Whilst it was baking I carried on with some other images to the lovely smell of baking bread.  And of course, setting yourself a little food project has its advantages at the end of the shoot…

Obviously this is a photography blog rather than a food blog, but if you’d like to make this loaf it’s Delia Smith’s quick and easy wholemeal recipe from Delia’s Complete Cookery Course (ISBN 978-1905080090).  Mine’s the 1983 edition but I assume it’s in the later ones!
