Back in the 1980s I did an Interrail trip to Eastern Europe, taking in what was then Yugoslavia, going as far south as Split, where the railway ends. I’ve always wanted to carry on the journey down the coast to Dubrovnik, so in May and June this year I set off on a train trip from the UK headed for Croatia…
Travelling out via Brussels and Munich, I visited Lake Bled (featured image above) and Ljubljana in Slovenia on the way, then continued on to Zagreb in Croatia, which was the base for a trip to Plitvice Lakes National Park.
From Zagreb I took the train to Split and continued by bus to Dubrovnik. Spending a few days in Dubrovnik I also visited Kotor in Montenegro before a bit of island hopping via Korčula and Hvar on the return journey.
It took a fair while to get through all the images on my return (you may have spotted them in small batches on my social media accounts as I worked through them) but having finished them I decided to gather together a few of my favourites from Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro into a short Blurb book entitled Western Balkans. I’d intended it primarily as a keepsake from my trip, but I’ve made it available to buy via Blurb should you like a copy!
Just click the Blurb book badge below to have a look at the preview or head along to this link.
The print version is on premium paper in a hardback cover, so it’s not cheap, but I’m very pleased with the print quality of my copy! It’s also available as a downloadable PDF.
