Leeds at Christmas

I managed to fit in another Christmas dusk shoot this week – this time I headed down to Leeds as I’ve not covered the city centre at this time of year for a while…

Ferris Wheel in Leeds

On the Headrow, the Leeds Wheel of Light looked very colourful and particularly effective whilst moving – though I had to hang around a bit for some people to fork out the £5 fare (it seemed to be spending much of the time stationary!)

Leeds Town Hall at Christmas

Nearby the Town Hall looked lovely with coloured lights in the tower and portico and streams of white lights on the columns.

Leeds City Varieties

Before it got too dark I headed over to the Victoria Quarter – via Swan Street and the City Varieties which looked really inviting in the fading light.

Briggte at Christmas in Leeds
Victoria Quarter and Briggate shopping street busy at dusk at Chrsitmas

Briggate was very lively with Christmas shoppers and people of the way home from work.  The Christmas lights were very festive – some of the rap music from the buskers less so!

Thorntons Arcade in Leeds at Christmas

Just off Briggate, Thornton’s Arcade was looking pretty festive too.  By this time it was getting quite dark so I headed back to the station, stopping for a couple of extra shots at the Corn Exchange which was bathed in red light…

Looking at the weather for the weekend I think taking stock photos at home will be the best option
