I managed to fit in another Christmas dusk shoot this week – this time I headed down to Leeds as I’ve not covered the city centre at this time of year for a while…

On the Headrow, the Leeds Wheel of Light looked very colourful and particularly effective whilst moving – though I had to hang around a bit for some people to fork out the £5 fare (it seemed to be spending much of the time stationary!)

Nearby the Town Hall looked lovely with coloured lights in the tower and portico and streams of white lights on the columns.

Before it got too dark I headed over to the Victoria Quarter – via Swan Street and the City Varieties which looked really inviting in the fading light.

Briggate was very lively with Christmas shoppers and people of the way home from work. The Christmas lights were very festive – some of the rap music from the buskers less so!

Just off Briggate, Thornton’s Arcade was looking pretty festive too. By this time it was getting quite dark so I headed back to the station, stopping for a couple of extra shots at the Corn Exchange which was bathed in red light…

You can see more images from the shoot on the website at: www.marksunderland.com/-/galleries/stock/yorkshire/west-yorkshire.
It is a long time since I last saw Leeds at Christmas… it looks rather different these days, but I can still recognise my childhood in your pictures. Thank you.
Glad it brought back some memories!
It did… I danced at the City Varieties and worked in shops in those arcades 🙂
Great shots mark i’m looking to get out in Leeds this weekend to get some stock photos while the mrs is at work.
Thanks! Have fun – it’s looking very colourful this year, but may be a bit busy at the weekend!
Looking at the weather for the weekend I think taking stock photos at home will be the best option
Ha, maybe! Saturday looks Ok – but Leeds will be heaving at dusk!
