This shoot was actually the week before last and you may have seen a few images from it on my Instagram feed if you’re on there, but there was such a nice crop of cherry blossom on The Stray this year that I thought I’d share a few more images on the blog!

I’d gone after a couple of days of heavy rain so was a bit worried that I might have missed out on the spring display of blossom on the avenues of cherry trees across The Stray, but I needn’t have worried – there was a great crop of blossom and the rain had weighed a few branches down across the path which looked nice – as did the fallen petals by the path.

I’d gone on a sunny day as I wanted some blue sky shots on this visit – as I’d normally pick a still overcast day to get the best of the colour from the trees, but on this visit I wanted some more “picture postcard” type images.

However, I still preferred the more subtle tones in images taken when the sun popped behind clouds giving some diffused light for a moment (compare the feature image at the top with the one above).

You can see more of the images from the shoot in the North Yorkshire gallery on the website – along with a few from a spring visit to Jacob Smith Park in Knaresborough too – hopefully that’s a couple of images for my 2021 calendars sorted!
