Last Week’s Shoot – Leeds Dock

Royal Armouries Museum Leeds

I had another trip into Leeds last week on a sunny afternoon, hoping for a nice dusk shoot at Leeds Dock and Royal Armouries.

On the way from the railway station I couldn’t resist one or two shots on some of the city centre architecture, particularly the splendid Leeds City Markets building.  This late Victorian/early Edwardian structure by architects Joseph and John Leeming was completed in 1904 and is one of many listed buildings in the city centre.

Water Taxi at Leeds Dock

I was passed by the Leeds Dock water taxi a couple of times on my walk along the river, making me think I must do the trip by boat myself one day – it must be a lovely way to arrive home from work if you live in one of the modern apartments around the dock.

As the light faded, the water taxi also faded away to a blur of light trails reflected in the water!

Near the entrance to the dock, the lights came on across the Knights Way Bridge over the River Aire as it got darker.

Back at the dock, longer exposures made some lovely reflections in the water.

The Royal Armouries Museum along the side of the dock looked fantastic – particularly the floodlit Hall of Steel – as the sky took on a deep blue hue.

You can see more images from the shoot in the West Yorkshire gallery on the website.
