Last Week’s Shoot – York in Spring

I know that the daffodils on the banks of Clifford’s Tower are well photographed already, but I’ve only got a few images of them and wanted to add a few more before the landscape changes significantly with the proposed new visitor’s centre at the foot of the steps!  So I headed into town on the train and looked for some other spring subjects on the way over to the castle area.

St Leonards Hospital in York

In Museum Gardens there were plenty of daffodils in full bloom on the lawns, mostly fenced off by annoying and not particularly photogenic low fences designed to stop people walking over the bulbs.  Over by the ruins of St Leonard’s Hospital, a border was brimming with a smaller variety which looked very colourful.

Behind the Minster in Dean’s Park the crop of crocuses on the lawn near the Minster Library building still looked impressive although the flowers were just past their peak.

The Treasurers House in York

Nearby the Treasurer’s House looked lovely bathed in warm sunshine from Minster Yard, but I took the opportunity to photograph it from Chapter House Street as well, before vegetation emerged on the trees to obscure the building.

I eventually arrived at Clifford’s Tower and set about getting down nice and low to make the most of the bright yellow flowers in the foreground.

Kings Staith at York

On the way back to the station, people seemed to have the right idea on King’s Staith, enjoying the warm sunshine along the bank of the River Ouse!
