It seemed that spring well and truly arrived last week, and promptly left again by the weekend, but while it was with us I managed a couple of trips out locally with the trusty OM-D…

I had a quick trip to Harrogate to look at the spring flowers along West Park and on Montpellier Hill, which were all very pleasant in the warm sunshine. Shooting this area didn’t take very long, so I had a wander over to The Stray to see how the avenues of trees were doing. Most of the daffodils were past their best but the cherry blossom was looking lovely and whilst I prefer diffused light for photographing the trees, a couple of backlit shots seemed to work out quite well.

Back in Knaresborough the castle grounds were filled with the intoxicating aroma of the flower beds full of hyacinths in the evening. The flowers around the war memorial and King’s Tower were lovely, but again the backlit view from the castle over the River Nidd towards the viaduct with beds of cheerful primula in the foreground seemed to work best.
