Much of the photography that I’ve been working on over the last few months has been aimed at series of local history books – the Though Time series from Amberley Publishing and the Then & Now series from The History Press. In both cases, the books consist of old images from a particular town or group of villages juxtaposed with a modern equivalent of the same scene along with a short caption.

The caption writing is being done by local author Paul Chrystal who owns Knaresborough Bookshop on the High Street here in Knaresborough and I’ve been concentrating on shooting the new images. So far, Knaresborough Through Time is published and available and Villages Around York Through Time and York Then & Now have gone to press.
We’re currently working on Villages of The North York Moors Through Time and Tadcaster Through Time so I’m hoping that we get some more decent weather over the summer (July has been decidedly iffy so far!) so that I can get on with shooting on the Moors – and back in Tadcaster which is of particular interest as it’s the town where I grew up and we’ll be featuring my old school amongst other familiar places.
After that, we also have Northallerton Through Time and Richmond Through Time lined up.
