About the location
Brimham Rocks is a 454 acre site of special scientific interest (SSSI) in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) located eight miles north-west of Harrogate. The site is famous for its fantastically shaped rocks formed millions of years ago. Wind and water erosion has helped to carve away softer layers of sandstone leaving behind the amazing millstone grit formations that we see today. One of these formations, The Druid’s Writing Desk is depicted on the Brimham Rocks greetings card.
