About the location
Boroughbridge is a small town on the River Ure in North Yorkshire, England. The Boroughbridge Multiview postcard features four Boroughbridge landmarks. Hall Square (top left) is a pretty cobbled square at the end of the High Street featuring the Boroughbridge War memorial. The Fountain (top right) is the old market well building in St James’ Square at the other end of the High Street, pictured at dusk. The River Ure Navigation (bottom left) is a canal cut built in 1770 as part of a series of cuts and dams to make the Ure navigable to Ripon. Horsefair (bottom right) now one of the town’s shopping streets was once where horse traders came to do business when the town was a busy river crossing on the Great North Road.
